GARAGE DOOR TUNE-UP

Garage Door maintenance shouldn’t take too long, at least once a year you need to ensure that the door is in prime condition – think about it, your garage door is more than just a door. For some houses, especially those with double garages, it makes up to 40% of the home facade!

Aside from being an essential element of your house’s aesthetic, poorly maintained garage doors can lead to significant damage. But that’s not even the worst part – a poorly maintained garage door can potentially be a serious hazard. These components are often under considerable tension, and if the hardware goes awry, it could lead to nasty accidents like having the door crash down onto your car, or worse, a family member.

To avoid these troubling scenarios, have a pro give your garage door a thorough once-over at least once a year. Regular maintenance by expert technicians not only extends the lifespan of your garage door but also ensures it remains safe and functional.

Garage Door Upkeep

Keep your garage door rolling smooth and safe with a dash of regular upkeep! All it takes is attention to its parts. Listen and look eventually to the components. Also, your rollers, tracks, and springs could use some good lubrication. It is important to secure the hardware, tightening the screws, bolts, and hinges as well.

Routine safety checks are a lifesaver – don’t forget to inspect the cables and clear out the tracks. It’s pretty much like taking your car in for an oil change; your garage door needs its routine tune-up too. So, make sure you give your garage door the upkeep it needs to perform well and keep your space secure. And remember – an inspection here, a tweak there, could make all the difference to your garage door’s life.

Garage Door Opener Maintenance

If your garage door opener is making noises, the issue very likely lies in a loose drive chain or belt. So, roll up your sleeves and let’s fix it! Switch off the power to the opener. Next, lift the door till chest height and unhinge it from the opener, close it manually – this will let you focus on the chain.

The real work begins here! Hunt for the adjustment bolt connected to the chain or belt. You’ll find adjusting nuts on each side. Using a wrench, turn the first nut counter-clockwise, then swing to the other side and turn it clockwise.

Just tighten until the chain or belt is about a quarter-inch from the bottom of the rail. But, beware! Over-tightening could snap it. Now, hook the door back onto the opener and restore the power supply.

You can prolong your opener’s life with some garage door lubricant! But remember, some screw openers don’t require lube, so check the manufacturer’s instructions.
